Abacus Swim School
Abacus Swim School is run by Kate Walker who has been an ASA qualified instructor for 15 years.
Our philosophy for teaching is that lessons should be fun, fast moving and stimulating. We feel that so long as children are relaxed and enjoying themselves then they will be learning and gaining confidence.
We believe that our very small class sizes allow the instructor to give each child the attention and personal input that they need to maximise their learning and achieve their potential.

Testing and Evaluation
When children come to us as new customers we give them a general evaluation at the beginning of the term to ensure that they are in a class that is as closely matched to their ability as possible. At the end of the term we assess the children for the next distance badge that is appropriate for their standard of swimming, as set out by the Amateur Swimming Association. We don't expect or assume that children will achieve a badge every term. The standards required to achieve each badge get progressively more stringent as the distance gets bigger.

Parking
There is plenty of parking at Westminster College, Botely. The Dragon School has no parking for Abacus customers.

Enrolment
The next opportunity for enrolment will be the Intensive classes we hold over the Summer holidays.

Enrolment for the Intensive courses will start in the week commencing 2nd June 2008.

Alternatively enrolment for the Septmber term will start for new customers in the week commencing 14th July.
Enrolment can be done over the phone any time after this date.

Viewing of Lessons
Both the Dragon Pool and the pool at Westminster College, Botley have a viewing gallery so that parents can view the lessons.So that we can keep to our timetable we ask parents to try and keep off poolside as much as possible and to ring the office if there is anything you would like to discuss.

Hats and Goggles
Due to pool regulations children are asked to wear a hat.

We actively encourage children to swim with goggles.

Both hats and goggles are available to buy on the poolside. Hats - £3. Goggles £7 and £10.

We would also like to remind customers that we do not operate a waiting list. We ask new customers to call the office in the week we commence enrolment for new customers.
