Children, aged 4 or above, probably first swimming lessons.
To give children plenty of water confidence. Emphasis on fun, nursery rhymes / games and lots of underwater / bubbles etc. Badge - Duckling 3 or 4.

Beginners
Complete non-swimmers. Water confidence and previous experience varied.
Independent movement with woggle. Jumping in. Head in / bubbles. Floating. P&G. Flutter kick action Front and back. Badge - 5m front OR back. (Any style)

Beginners +
5m Front or Back.
Confidence and general water skills - jumping unassisted in and out of depth / picking up from bottom / swimming through hoop / P&G head in. Strong and reliable leg kick front and back. (Eradicate cycling). Badge - 10m front or back or BOTH.

IMPROVER 1
10m Front and Back
Establish 3 recognisable strokes in basic technique. Focus on breathing for front and efficient arms for back. Working regularly out of depth - jumping / diving and treading water. Increase general stamina. Badge - 15m Front and Back.

IMPROVER 2
15m Front and Back
Bring 3 strokes on to efficient technique. Breathing to side for front crawl. Correct timing and arm action for back stroke. Rhythm for breaststroke. Increase stamina and speed for all three. Badge - 25m or 50m.

IMPROVER 3
50m in Two Strokes
3 stroke technique as necessary, start with butterfly. More work on stamina / speed. Diving and timed swims. Badge - 100m or 200m.

IMPROVER +
200m Including all 3 strokes in efficient technique
If technique entirely finished, speed stamina and training, swimming drills as appropriate. Badge - 400m
